No, you don't have to. Beau-pair's au-pairs get a museum year card from us! We encourage them to go out and visit museums! In addition, we regularly organise excursions where they can go with their museum year card. For example, the Zuiderzee Museum, Het Loo Palace, Zaanse Schans and Kröller Müller.

This is an option and especially not a must. However, we have good experiences with Taalthuis, which offers special language courses for au-pairs. Also at a higher level if the au-pair already has knowledge of the African language. Taalthuis offers the au-pairs of Beau-pair a discount for this course. Yes, to make the au pair programme and cultural exchange a success, we recommend that the au pair joins the family or children for dinner. This way, the children also get to know her and interesting conversations take place. For the au-pair, it is also a great adventure and nothing better than to give them the feeling of being part of the family. Sure on weekends this is not a must but on weekdays we highly recommend it. 

Each au-pair is entitled to 2 weeks' holiday during the year she stays with you. These do not have to be 2 consecutive weeks but can also be single days or twice a week. 

Of course, it is up to you to decide whether she goes with you. Be careful though; on holiday the situation is different from at home, so take that into account. Explain what you expect from her and what the exact intention is.

The au pair must make an appointment after arriving in the Netherlands for a TB test at a GGD. This is required by the IND and must be done within three months after arrival. If the au pair has not taken a TB test within these three months, the IND will immediately revoke the residence permit. Our advice is to do this as soon as possible in the first month after arrival. 

The au-pair will take this with her to the appointment:

• Your passport or ID card
• For each person, a completed TB referral form from the IND
• Payment card
• The examination at the GGD costs money (about €50.00).

The GGD will take a picture of your lungs to see if you the au-pair might have tuberculosis.

You may receive an invitation for a skin test (Mantoux) after 4 weeks. This test shows whether you have ever been in contact with tuberculosis.

Yes, this is allowed au-pairs from the EU are allowed to drive a car in the Netherlands indefinitely. Au-pairs outside the EU are allowed to drive a car in the Netherlands with their own driving licence for a maximum of the first 6 months (185 days) after arrival. After this, this right expires and the only possibility is to obtain a Dutch driving licence. So for Beau-pair's South African au-pairs, they are allowed to drive a car of the host family 6 months after arrival in the Netherlands. Be sure to adjust your car insurance accordingly!

At its fastest, an au-pair can start working for you within 2.5 months. The process also depends on how quickly the match is made. We will do our utmost (if necessary) to get the au-pair started as soon as possible.

An au-pair will unburden you with regard to the care of your child or children. The au-pair is a regular face. You do not have to rush to the childcare/BSO or a babysitter. Furthermore, the au-pair does light household chores; the laundry is done and it is folded in your cupboard in the afternoon. In general, the au-pair likes to cook as well - how nice it is when dinner is ready for you after a busy working day!

Like you, an au pair is focused on privacy. The au pair will never 'plop down' on the couch next to you in the evening. Furthermore, it is important to communicate what you feel comfortable with and make a weekly schedule of activities for the au pair. The schedule lists the au-pair's activities for that week.

An au-pair can come from any country, both inside and outside the EU. In principle, Beau-pair focuses on South African au-pairs as they have good experiences with them. The au-pairs mostly speak the African language (which makes communicating with the children easy) and are very interested in Dutch culture. They feel comfortable here because it is safe and they serve the families.

An au-pair mainly performs (caring) tasks for the children. In addition, an au-pair may perform light housework, such as cooking, loading and unloading the dishwasher, washing and folding laundry and vacuuming. However, there are (game) rules attached to this. Do you have pets? They remain the responsibility of the host family. Occasionally, an au pair may be asked to take the dog for a walk. Under no circumstances can an au pair be asked to take care of pets, including cleaning their accommodation.

An au-pair receives a residence permit for a maximum of one year and is allowed to live in the Netherlands for a maximum of that period.

An au-pair is allowed to work 30 hours a week, including eight hours a day. In addition, an au-pair is entitled to two days off per week, and one free weekend per month (from Friday evening to Sunday evening) and two weeks' holiday. These weeks may be planned separately.

This TB test at the GGD for the au-pair is a mandatory test. This one-off cost (approx. € 50.00) must be paid by the host family. It is up to the au pair to have this compulsory TB test at the GGD as soon as possible after arrival, if all administrative matters (registration Municipality, BSN, residence permit, bank account, etc.) have been arranged. We advise you to help the au-pair with this to avoid possible problems. Please send Beau-pair a copy of the TB test in due time.

No, the compulsory health insurance is taken out and paid by the au-pair herself. On the other hand, she receives care allowance so that on balance she pays (almost) nothing for health insurance. Since health insurance is compulsory for an au pair in the Netherlands, it is advisable to help the au pair apply for the insurance and the care allowance. Beau-pair would like to receive a copy of the health insurance policy in due time.

Yes, depending on the area of coverage (Europe or World, depending on the au-pair's country of origin) the costs amount to € 437.26 or € 561.58 on an annual basis. You can apply for the au pair insurance (before arrival of the au pair) with Tasman Verzekeringen via this link, where you will also find detailed information on insurance for host families of au-pairs.

No, Beau-pair handles the administrative processing and payment of fees and other possible payments to the IND.

No, the invoice contains the mediation costs, the costs for the au-pair events, IND costs and fees. Costs that are not invoiced and have to be paid separately by the host family are the monthly pocket money, monthly contribution for the public transport subscription and the mobile phone subscription of the au-pair. In addition, there are one-off costs such as the cost of a museum year card for the au-pair and the cost of the TB test at the GGD.

The payment term used by Beau-pair B.V. for payment of our invoice(s) is 14 days.

At the beginning of the process, you have chosen the option: "pay in two partial invoices". The first invoice is for 70% of the total placement costs and you will receive it after matching with an au-pair. The second invoice is for the remaining 30% of the total placement fee. You will receive the second invoice no later than 4 weeks before the au-pair's arrival.

At the beginning of the au-pair placement process, you opted for lump-sum payment of the mediation fee and costs with a discount of 2.5%.
